We did not do any grocery shopping this week, we simply did not need anything.

I was at Hannafords yesterday getting pig-food [the produce guys set aside all the bruised fruits and veggies for a few of us local pig farmers] and one of the managers was telling me of a lady who had emptied the store's shelves of C and D batteries then she filled two carts with bottled water.

I drove by the Lincoln wind towers at 11:30. The tops of the blades would disappear into the low cloud layer and reappear down below the turbine. It was not snowing. At exactly noon it started snowing and visibility dropped from 2 miles to 1/4 mile. In one hour we got 2 1/2 inches of snow.

Does she expect to be without power for a week or does she have no snow removal equipment and expects not to get out any time soon. I hope she has bred to go with her water.

I went to Hannaford's a couple of hours ago. By then, maybe 6" on the ground but no wind yet. I thought, "Meh, another hyped up snowstorm, this isn't so, so bad". 10 minutes upon returning home and bam, the wind kicks up, visibility to nothing and very high rates of snowfall. I think I'll wait until dusk to do the driveway once, then just leave it until morning. I could see us getting 18" or so by the time it gets out of here. Who knows. But it's just pouring snow sideways right now. Love it!

Ooh, I'd love some photos. But I'm being selfish. And the battery hogger lady: one would think stores set limits on quanitity of battery purchases? Be safe. :0

I just finished snow-blowing our driveway. Our driveway is about 120 yards long and visibility is 100 yards at best. I had 6 to 8 inches of fresh snow on my driveway, and out on the pavement there is 4 to 6 inches of snow since the last time the plow truck passed by.

It is swirling a lot, one minute it is blowing from the North, and the next minute it is coming from the South. I had to keep shifting which way my snow-blower was blowing it. If I blow snow directly into the oncoming wind, the snow just comes back at me and re-settles in my driveway again.

I have no idea.

I do not understand people who rush out to buy stuff before a storm. Does consumption increase during a storm?

Our freezers are loaded and our pantry shelves are filled with mason jars full of food. In my mind, we eat the same quantity one week as we eat the next week. I do not see our food consumption varying with the weather.

My Dw will not let me drink milk [she says I snore too much when I have drank milk] and she makes bread whenever we need some; so we have never been people to buy milk and bread.

11:30am-3:30pm Loop.

Those purple bands rotating in are intense. Easy 1-3" per hour rates if you're under it. Darker blues are heavy too at times. Almost done here. Over 10" and counting.

The center of the storm is now off the MA coast.
