The end of daylight saving time has been postponed in Maine until the power comes back on. We still have 35,000 homes with no power from the windy day.

Power was returned to my little township, today at 1pm. We lost it Thursday.

OK, people.Turn your clocks back. And for the doubters and those who never lost power, here is the Emera link:

https://apps.emeramaine.com/about/ou...Outage_Map.cfm

As of sunrise, we have fewer than 7,000 homes without power.

You guys ready????????

Maybe....

Just looked at Bar Harbor area from the latest Euro12z Model.... Looks like this update says 2.20" precip for BHB and most would be snow Friday. Wow! And again another snow event next Wednesday.

We'll see.

What are your local forecasters saying?

I see 3 snow chances for northern Maine especially.

Here is NWS Caribou discussion

Quote:
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Caribou ME
545 PM EST Mon Nov 4 2019

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Potential Coastal Low Thursday Night into Friday...

Deterministic guidance has come more into line with ensembles
this afternoon in showing an area of low pressure developing
along the coast with potentially the first significant snowfall
of the season for Maine; However, substantial uncertainty still
exists with the timing, track, and intensity of the low
pressure. At 250mb, the polar and subtropical jets are forecast
to phase over the Great Lakes Thursday afternoon, placing New
England in an area of divergence aloft favorable for
cyclogenesis. At 500mb, a strong shortwave trough is forecast to
round the base of the longwave and move into the Northeast US
Thursday night. Subtle changes in this shortwave will determine
whether or not the low rapidly deepens or if a weaker frontal
wave occurs.

The aforementioned shortwave can be traced back to
Northeastern Asia and Siberia currently, where observational
data are sparse. It will remain over data sparse regions until
Wednesday when it enters Canada, at which point guidance should
converge on a more reliable solution. At and just above the
surface, temperatures will generally be cold enough for snow
depending on the low track. A mention of mixing was left across
Downeast Maine to account for the chance of a further west low
track as some ensemble members and the 12z GFS suggest.

There are also key timing differences among guidance, with the GFS and
Canadian generally faster, bringing in precipitation Thursday
afternoon, while the ECMWF is slower and holds off precipitation
until after 0z Thursday evening across the CWA. Current PoPs
are probably on the conservative side and were based mostly on
6z guidance, which was not as bullish.

The recommended messaging at this point is to make sure
general winter preparations are completed soon,
but it is too early to discuss specific impacts
from this storm. Regardless of the outcome, temperatures will be
sharply cooler compared to the past couple weeks when above
normal temperatures were observed.

This fall has been much better than last. Temps have been good, and no snow yet. But it’s time for snow and cold.....

WHATTT?? My mantra these days: NO hurricanes, NO snow removal; NO hurricanes, NO snow removal. Time to tuck it 1000 miles south of Florida. Well, as soon as I tag out.
