Acajack, Is there a thread where non-Canadians can understand Canadian traffic lights? Can you legally make a right on a red light? Why are there five lights horizontally? I will Google this as long as I'm thinking of "contraventions!"

I am not aware of any threads.

As for understanding the lights, the main difference for an American is the flashing green which is the same as an arrow indicating a protected (usually left) turn.

You can turn right on a red anywhere in Canada except for Montreal Island. Unless of course there is a sign saying you can't.

And traffic lights can vary from province to province. NB and Quebec have similar traffic lights. Ontario's are quite different.
