Was open and running one day. The next day....Boom....gone!! Same with the Friendly's in West Lebanon, NH so my son tells me. Used to be a nice chain of restaurants. As of late they did away with the senior's menu (which used to have $5.00 meals) and just discounted 10% on everything for seniors. Well thank you very much but that really doesn't help when you consider an average meal was $10.00. Perhaps they lost a lot of business after that. Maybe a lot of their customers were seniors.

I loved their Reese's Pieces sundaes.......their food?.....meh. And I agree that they were expensive for the quality of the food.

Their ice cream is very comparable to Hood as the best grocery store ice cream. I get whatever ends up being on sale between the 2.

Most all of then closed in RI, where we lived until this past June, a couple of years ago. They were great for ice cream or a milk shake on a warm day...I miss that. There's not a decent place now to get a first-class ice cream sundae anywhere. If you know of one in Maine, please let me know. The type of thing McDonald's sells just doesn't compare!

Sounds like you need some Johns Ice cream in Liberty.

We have a Giffords stand here where I am but they are only open in the warm months. Giffords seems to be good ice cream (to me at least) but the only store that I have been to around here that sells it is Shaws. Don't know about Hannaford but I know that Chinamart oops, I mean Walmart and Save-A-Lot don't carry it. Don't know of any other Friendly's in Maine, though I have NOT been around much. Might be one in Augusta.

We live way above Waterville, but we used to stop in Waterville for the biggest Mardens and the Friendly's. We like the Friendly's food.

A lot of the Friendly's closed here in Ohio too, it's a shame, dramamama was a waitress there when we first met.

We stopped eating at Friendly's more than 10 years ago when we got a deep-fried fly as part of our meal in Worchester, MA. Never cared much for their food anyway, but the in-laws were big fans. The place in Brunswick always seemed to have an air of decay hovering over it, so I wasn't surprised when it closed a few years ago. It's a chain burger place now.
