I will be working at the Fraser mill. I work in sales for a chemical supplier. I heard that 2 of the old smaller paper machines have closed recently to make the mill profitable. I am not sure how many people lost their jobs, 50-100? Maybe more?

From what I hear, the mill is now very stable, with it being more profitable now that they shut down the 2 older machines. They usually have to spend alot of money with older machines for maintenance.

Anyway, I am considering Grand Falls or Edmundston, but I have been given the option, so I think if I live in the US I will end up with quite a bit more money in my pocket. Considering less taxes and tax benefits, it should be more beneficial.

Thanks for the info.

Hello CapeBretoner,

My wife and I currently live in Madawaska, why not consider living in Madawaska itself? The town, while small, is very safe and has good schools, etc. You would be very close to the Mill (in town) and would ahve very easy access to the Canadian border while being within 1.5 hrs to PI and the airport.

Please let me know if there are any questions that you would like to have answered about our town.
