Servicemembers and veterans are excluded from the State Police policy of additional training.

However, every town selectman, in every town, is allowed to issue CCW permits, and that does not require any training. It is only when your town selectman refuse to do their job, that you are directed to the State Police.

Like I said, no problem with gun rights, so I'll carry to protect my family from the frothing nuts that think it makes them a man. This is all just more political malarkey from the extreme right to garner support. Nothing more. Argue with it and you're labeled "unpatriotic" or "socialist." Just wait until the corporate facists decide its time to disarm the populous. Then you'll hear some squealing.

It's 'populace' and it won't be squealing on the part of the populace. The ones squealing will be the progressives who try to pull that stunt. Oh, they will get some skeet and trap shooters to turn in their over and unders, but it will be another thing indeed when it comes to the MBRs.

Wake me up when every man, woman and child carries.......and the world STILL isn't any safer than before.

You can't stop crazy......unless you kill them first......and then YOU are the crazy one.

That's actually not true at all. Crime peaked in the early 90's, right about the time concealed carry started gaining popularity.

Now, we're back down to levels we haven't seen since the 1960's. 40 year lows according to the FBI. Is that because of concealed carry? I don't know, but it hasn't hurt.

Take Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago and Baltimore out of the total and we have one of the lowest murder rates in the world. Even with those cities our murder rate is the lowest it has been since 1912.

I'm doubtful, simply because I see very few news stories of, "Criminal X thwarted by Citizen Y because he was packing heat." There might be a few such cases here and there, but certainly not enough to account for the 40 year low in crime.

But what do I know? If someone has evidence to the contrary, I'd like to see it.

You do realize that the public media do NOT ever report situations where concealed carry or open carry thwarted criminal activities right?

I was just going to say; the media buries those stories as fast as they can.
Don't forget: just KNOWING that there are people out there with concealed weapons helps to deter crime. It is always in the back of the criminal's mind that their next crime just might be their last.
