A 4 BR, 2 bath in East Millinocket just went for $2,000. Not a bad house with full basement and new hot water heater and furnace.

Watch out for some of these. My old homestead in Holden has been sitting vacant for over 3 years now. Most of them probably won't qualify for secondary mortgage market conventional financing due to condition. We sold our home in the mid '90's for close to $90K and somehow Wells Fargo handed out $170K or so to the last owner before they threw in the keys and walked. It was never worth over $135K on a good day. Wells Fargo seems to be the Fleet of the 21st Century, and has tons of these abandoned properties rotting all over Maine. Why? I have no idea, but I'm sure our tax dollars bailed them out through TARP and other scams. Now the properties can pretty much rot into the ground, it seems, and Wells Fargo couldn't care less.

Millinocket just sold 16 houses for a grand total of $48,000. Do the math. That's $3,000 each. Who will buy these? Snowmobilers and sportsmen of all kinds. They will be bases of operations for those who enjoy Maine's great outdoors which surrounds Millinocket.

Any available in Presque Isle? Washburn? Fort Kent? I might be interested in bidding on one of them.
