Ok so there was a bug thread on here that mostly focused on black flies, mosquito's, and midges. In my research I cannot get a very straight answer concerning regions of Maine that I am interested.

Do they have fireflies in North woods? I know Maine has them. Maine Insects and Bugs

Here are some of the regions I am interested in.

Jackman - The Forks - Greenville

Chesuncook Lake - Chamberlain Lake

And my third territory choice though not North Woods

Lakeville -Wesley - Machias

It's not major deal. I will be making lifestyle sacrifices moving to any area.

There are here in the Houlton area. My niece and her husband were out on their ATV the other night and she had mentioned seeing all kinds if them in the woods and fields.

Yeah, they are in the north woods. I was tenting up on the West Branch and thought for a second that someone was shining a flashlight on my tent. Turned out it was a firefly between the fly and the tent.

I did not see any on my trip to the Allagash two weeks ago. I hope they are there because I would love to see them when we go back next year.

They may be everywhere, but I usually see them where there are fields nearby.

For your sake I hope they are. My concern was that colder climates may not be too conducive to their survival or habitat.

They peak in the second half of July and early August. Bats don't like them. They must taste terrible.
