72 deg with a light breeze and clear blue sky today.

As to schools, state government grades our schools on such things as participation rates when students take standardized tests. That is a misnomer because the tests are not standardized. No two students in the same classroom take the same tests. The teacher doesn't even get to see the tests, but the teacher's performance is based on how the students perform. Much of the test content has not been taught to the students. It's a mess. In the last four years our kids have taken tests from four different sources with four different standards. There is no way to compare results with any validity at all.

Conclusion? Pay no attention to how the state grades any school. If a boy went fishing one last time with his grandfather the day of the test, what is more important to the boy in the long run?
