I have a problem with my Ariens 11526 Pro Snow Blower Model:926005

I just replaced my drive and 2 auger belts on my Ariens 11526 Pro Snow Blower Model:926005. When I start it up it wants to move forward without the drive engaged. I took it for a walk around the back yard for 5 minutes figuring it would seat the belt enough to stop the slight pull on the wheels but it didn't. The cable has a lot of slack and I even loosened it just to rule it out. I can't even push it into place when putting it away because the wheels are slightly locked... If I rock it sometimes it loosens so I can move it a little. Any ideas on how I can make it idle at a stand still?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

There should be an idler pulley adjustment. Loosen up that pulley so when the drive is engaged the belt can be pushed in a little with your thumb.

Sounds to me like the wrong belt. Either the slot in the pulley is too narrow or the belt is too wide for the pulley slot. It's creating enough "grab" to engage the pulley. And since you replace the belt, not the pulley, I'm thinking it's the belt that is too fat.

Is it a cloth covered belt? The purpose for that cloth outer layer is to allow the belt to "slip" a little. If you simply bought a rubber belt, it will grab and finally burn out.

Has cloth on the sides, you can see 2 lines on the side of fiber to Non rubber.
Aries says it's the correct belt, Saw it once in manual, once from a dealer/rep and called to verify from a different rep.
I am pretty sure I have it right. I will take it for a walk on the weekend.

Just because the cable is loose doesn't nessarily mean the pulley is openening enough to let the belt loose, you may need to lube the pulley itself.
