Well it's been in effect for two weeks now and I have yet to hear of any problems with Cowboys out shooting up the towns of Maine.

I guess all of that hand wringing and sleepless nights by certain types were all for naught.

Two weeks is not enough time for issues to come to the fore.

However, as I said before, getting a concealed carry permit in Maine was never all that difficult. And unlike many states Open carry was always legal, and in many ways way more deterrent. After all, would you bother someone who is actually carrying a gun obviously---I doubt it.

Almost everyone who wanted to carry concealed in Maine already does.

For the most part, people who want to carry already carry.

I strongly doubt this will have any effect on how many people will carry a firearm.

What it changes is what happens when your Open Carry weapon gets covered.

There was also a little girl in that car. It could have ended in tragedy.

Disasters always can happen but most of the time they don't.

The question is why did anyone shoot a gun at a Mickey D's?

I'm thinking that if you're shooting a tire in the parking lot of a fast food joint you don't care about gun laws.

Owner likely removed the magazine before leaving the pistol in the car with a kid. Then pulled the trigger to make sure it was not loaded. The step missed was to rack the slide to make sure there was no round in the chamber.
