Let me rephrase this question:

What are the differences between the two towns?

I lived in Kennebunkport for a couple years, with a family member that lived there 50 years,, my sister graduated from Kennebunk high school

on one hand its a beautiful area, on the other hand,,,,in the summer its very touristy and lots of traffic
Camden is similar...

cant speak on the old money front...I was always part of the working class

There isn't really a difference. Both have main (Maine) roads that run through town and attract a ton of tourist drivers in the warmer months. We like both places having spent time in both. If we had to pick one, I suspect that Camden would be more crowded in the Summer. The main road runs right through the town along the harbor and then continues up the coast toward Bucksport.

I can tell you that you can't throw a dead cat without hitting an excellent restaurant up in Camden. They are everywhere and my wife and I have eaten our way through that town a couple of times. The harbor views are priceless but, again, all that attracts traffic from both vehicles and boats. IT's a busy place with a continuous stream of cars. Stay at the Towne Motel just a block from the center of town during the summer and walk down for dinner or shopping. You'll get an idea of what the stream of traffic is like. It stays like that until the leaf-peeping season begins to wind down and then you'll see a whole different side of what the town offers.
