I have one of those Stetson Gun Club hats. When I was at L.L. Bean in early December in Freeport, they had some Stetsons for sale, not as nice as the Gun Club one of the few items I saw there not made in China. I still have a few of their shirts that are not Chi-Com. It (the Stetson) was given to me by my late Father-in-law. I didn't know how much it cost until I clicked on the link the OP provided. I wore it out to dinner tonight. Of course you would have to come up on the Blue Ridge of North Carolina to see me wearing it as I do not at present reside in Maine.

For what its worth (not much), I was watching an episode of "Murder She Wrote" and saw that the Sheriff of Cabot Cove, Maine wears a Stetson cowboy hat, which is about as real as the actors' Maine accents.

Dunno about a 'trend', I've been wearing one most of my life. Got a genuine beaver felt Stetson that cost a bit, don't wear it much because my head got too big (go ahead, say it...). Got a leather one that gets much more use. Of course, I often wear 'ball caps' too, and I have a rabbit fur hat with ear flaps for when it gets really cold.

sounds similar to me here. I wear a brown Bass Pro Shops ball cap normally, my grandfathers old london fog (similar to a stetson in shape ect) if my outfit goes with it, and in winter i wear a brown ear flab (bomber?) hat with ear flabs for the cold.

If mine gets blown loose in the wind and tramped by my hogs it is not a big deal. Since they cost less than a buck a piece.

If I had a $100 hat I would be hesitant to wear it much.

May i ask how expensive in money/time it is raising hogs? As well as how much meat do you get per hog (as i assume you slaughter them for meat).

Sounds lik a boonie to me, all right, and I see lots of them on the old duffers.

Size of a fist, huh? Sounds like his jock is hitched up too tight....
