All political veiws aside...Love him or hate him...the Gov hates that as much as I do.
Classic misunderstanding of what an "entitlement" is, and the semantics of fooling the believing public. An "entitlement" is something you are "entitled" to because you earned it. Social Security. Social Security Disability. Both entitlements. You paid into the system. Even Lepage doesn't understand it. Supplemental security income (SSI), food stamps, etc. are welfare.

It has been demonstrated time and again Lepage's "war on entitlements" is nothing more than smoke and mirrors decorated with lies. I don't want to pay for someone else's free ride anymore than anyone else. But he uses it to get voters to align with him when it has been unequivocally proven that the "problem" is miniscule. Sure, there are users, violators - nail them! But he plays politics with children's welfare. His recent "reallocation" of funds from Families with children to the Elderly is a political ploy directing WELFARE to a cross section of society that he feels will bring more votes to his side of the aisle. Period. Intelligent people don't take the bait.

Hannibal Hamlin was all right. P. Baxter, but he did the "socialist/communist" thing and created a State Park. King was borderline, and a carpet bagger. Came on great guns, and fizzled. Jock was useless. Longley was O.K. Didn't trust Baldacci whatsoever. Unfortunately, with this last go-round, we really didn't have anyone to vote for just like the last time.

It ain't all black and white, like many of the flatlanders that move into Maine think it is. Do you even know what Mainecare is, or that 75% of the people in nursing homes finishing off their lives are on Mainecare after being stripped of everything they own? Figured as much.

They earn their pay. They do the work and then get paid.
