Also nationwide
"cities collectively cleared 19.7 percent of Crime Index offenses, 44.5 percent of violent crimes, and 16.4 percent of property crimes."

If Portland has 22%, S. Portland 40.6%, and Cumberland 47.1% these are exceptionally high rates.

I've been thinking about this thread. I've come to a conclusion. It's WONDERFUL that "crime in Maine" makes headlines and gives us something that we need to discuss at length. We'd only be having this discussion in Houston if it were the 3rd or 4th murder/rape/armed robbery on any given DAY.

So, the fact that "crime in Maine" is such a controversial thing tells me with much certaintly that I really need to hurry and get moved up there! When horrendous crimes occur in Maine, it becomes EVERYONE's business, and so it should.

We love Elcarim for her 'mind';

and love Maine for it's really low crime rate and high arrest rates.

In the small towns, you just go to the known criminals homes and they confess. As they say, round up the usual suspects, one of them did it, or knows who did it, because its usually his brother.
