Dire predictions of wild west gunfights and carnage in the streets fail to materialize.

Maine had fewer homicides, highway and fire fatalities in 2016 - The Portland Press Herald

...have at it folks.

Missouri's permit less concealed carry law went into effect on Jan 1. So far no problems. Missouri now has some of the fewest gun laws in the nation!

I have concealed carry in NC, retired from a law enforcement agency, combat vet and cannot transport guns up here through NY, CT, or Taxachusetts. Things that make you wonder. I might have to fly up with some, you are allowed to do that.

FOPA (firearm owners protection act) protects you there if you follow it to the letter and get through the un-free states ASAP. Some LEO's in those states will ignore it but if they do, get a good lawyer and hammer them with civil rights lawsuits. Hopefully we get CC reciprocity soon.

Even before Maine's 'Constitutional Carry', Maine was a 'Shall Issue' state. If you are the type of person who carries, you were carrying anyway.

'Constitutional Carry' did not change that.

I do not think it caused any additional people to suddenly start carrying.

It enabled me to start carrying as I was too busy (lazy) to get my CCP. Still plan to eventually get my permit so I can carry in State parks if needed.

That is interesting.

I know a lot of people who carry.

The problem with that is that those states are so anti-gun that they'll arrest you anyway, you're treated guilty until proven innocent, they'll get sued by you and they won't care. Why? Because it's not their money they're using to pay out the lawsuit, they're using the taxpayer.

My take is that if the cop and prosecutors and judges know it's not something that should be prosecuted, they should be liable to civil suits that they're responsible for.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the stricter the gun control is, the more gun crime there is because gun laws only affect the law abiding. Criminals are not law abiding.

Great example: Chicago and DC. Some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Chicago, IIRC, had over 700 murders last year yet they still blame guns.

I stopped at the post office to mail a letter and while I was in there, three people came out and got into their cars in the next lot over. It was raining. I had parked in the same lot next to the post office. Nobody was parked in the post office lot. My friend, who was from Connecticut, where only the governor's bodyguards get to carry, asked me why everybody was parking away from the post office. I told him that they all had firearms in their vehicles and it is illegal to possess firearms on post office property.

He thought that was a dumb law. Yup, it's a dumb law.

It also feels more like a freedom if you don't need a permit.
