Going back to the OP about the restaurant closing and laying off its workers - I guess we don't have to worry about how much tip to leave if the business is shuttered and employees unemployed

So the hike in minimum wage didn't even impact the LL Bean retirees......they were already earning more than $10.

Not unless or until the MW exceeds 10.58/hr between now and 2020. It will be more likely to effect LL Bean and other companies paying a similar wage since they will have to eventually increase their wages to compete for labor. Increased labor costs will be passed on to customers.

The Maine electorate passed this increase in Minimum-Wage, so I suppose they must be the 'out of touch upper class'. As a low-income retiree I am not sure who this upper class is who you think passed this bill.

Yes, to start. Many companies have a starting wage above the minimum so that they can attract quality applicants.
