Massnative, TY for that post.

Maineac, no need to get HuffPost-y re politics, or alleged conspiracy, etc. My point is; it seems northern borders of US become more vulnerable now that Trump has enforced the southern ones. Also, let us be real here -- up north there's far more land area to cover, coast to coast, agree?

Things haven't gotten better over last 10 yrs of unnamed presidency, please don't tell me everything is wonderful now, either.

PS -- Neither do I say WV is utopia. It has huge opioid rates (worst in US) but certain more affluent areas, decrease chances of it. But there's really nowhere safe from drug use in the country & here's where the Bibilical side of my mindset comes. Maybe it is written this way & conservative Christians I know feel likewise.

I know s. ME & Portland went to the dogs -- as has Boston & south to FL. It stands to reason that w/ overpopulation w/ peeps it is matter of time til the whole n. east becomes one big parking lot. Look at LA & SD, in Cali -- both dumps nowadays. If not a rich celeb, you live in squalor & that is the truth. My sis lives in SD & you can have Cali. FL too, is a pit of crime & despair w/ more problems than just gators eating folks. Ok, I'm done my rant today.

I thought Maineac's post was very thoughtful. (Please note his positive reputation which makes me think I am likely not alone in my thinking)

OP, perhaps consider that broad strokes are sometimes very misleading. Maine obviously has lots of space and all types of ppl. Goodness, that is part of it's attraction.

But as I posted earlier in this thread, WV is likely a less worrisome location for OP. Sounds like living in a border state would just be too stressful for you. This seems to be the crux of the matter for you. Good luck.

Yawn . . . posts here should be inquiring about Maine. Answering should discuss how nice the people are, the remoteness of areas, conveniences, ins and outs of dealing with government, costs. Nobody wants to hear my thoughtful political views, much less those of someone that listens to too much propaganda and repeats it like a parrot on either side of the coin. We already have a resident political poster bent on "converting" anyone he/she can with misinformation and conspiracy theories. Sorry if you took my post wrong. Yeah. WVA.

Really it's not that bad. Live in the mountainous towns and you have cool summer overnights in the 50s.

You have to understand just how far "up there" northern Maine is. Stuff that happens down in the lower 47-and-a-half (I will exclude Alaska and Hawaii!) just are moot here. Because of the remoteness.

1st of, TY to all replying. Some of you I know well . But this isn't a point/counterpoint but just a feedback sess, so we all all aware & learn what is what & truth from myth. So I abide by you locals defending the lack of worry, & feel as tho it is farfetched in my mind. Yet the shadow of a doubt keeps me thinking, but "what if they're denying the realism & potential threat due to it being easier to ignore a wound: "-- til it festers into an uh oh. Ok, back to the great posts so far & keep us ALL thinking to be best safe n sorry.

no clue what you just said.....
Honestly- turning to a board to decide, it does seem like to me your mind is made up anyway. All I know is no one could pay me to live in Wva... Mountains or not- sticky hot, long communiting due to the road system, and taxes out the ying yang. ( for anyone in Virginia- we are glad it is no longer part of the state... put it that way.... )

Actually, taxes are about the same in WV versus Maine. At least as far as property taxes are concerned. I would only not recommend WV if you'll be living in a city because of the dreaded user tax.
