in a state where you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet, yet we have a seatbelt law in a car,,,what do you expect?

if the powers to be are going to start legislating morality, then id like to suggest lobsters, filet mignon, chips, soda, and candy cannot be bought with foodstamps

Yet you can buy booze in the grocery store,... go figure. Everyone has their pet peeves, eh? Too bad ya can't legislate stupidity.

I lost several loved ones to years of smoking. It is very hard to watch someone suffer. It use to be that smokers were the majority but, not any longer. Now if you smoke you are the minority. I've heard so many times that if you quit cold turkey it takes a tole on the body and like many other addictions causes the bodies ammune system to break down and thats when people end up with cancer. Has anyone else heard that? My Uncle and my father in law both quit cold turkey and within a year died of cancer. But those who gradually quit lived longer lives, although, they had health problems like emphasima. I am only going on personal experience here. Anyone else have any input?

My mother quit gradually and did not develop lung cancer for many years after she stopped completely. Unfortunately once the damage is done with the build up of carcinogens it's a crap shoot. Some people smoke for most of their lives and are never sick and some get cancer just from second hand smoke. The fact that they can't find a definitive root cause they can attribute to smoking keeps smoking and cancer in that grey area and safe from litigation.

I have one of those too, though nowadays most folks that actually wear a helmet go for the full coverage type with the fiberglass band that covers the mouth and chin completely.
