As far as in theory, I agree with you... but with the price of even a basic new car these days, and the "alternatives" they have out there even higher than that, do you honestly think the "something else", when it comes, will be affordable to the average blue collar working stiff ?

From seeing the way the market works, either they will be not allowed on some made up reason or another, or else they will become immediately "trendy" and the prices will go through the roof, as after the trend setters adopt them, Madison Ave will take over and the manufacturers will eat like fat cats.

Default Gasoline alternatives: horses?

Spoke with two fellas in Clinton on Friday that have draft horses. They were negotiating stud fees and discussing bloodlines.

We got into a discussion about how quickly draft horses were replaced. To the three of us it seemed obvious that draft horses will likely hold a valued position in our society in the future. However in today's economics most horse breeders apparently are not surviving and are being forced to get rid of their livestock.

On my last trip to Tiltons 'auction' yard [a once active livestock auction], they did have some horses, but they are now a meat broker. So those horses have a dim future.

It doesn't matter how much they cost it will be worth it to tell the oil companies where they can stick their oil.

Then count yourself lucky to be able to make that statement and back it up with $$.

Not everyone can afford $30,000 or more just for transportation.

Would take a long time to get to market in Bangor by goat, I fear... I gotta get some clients closer to home then.

I might make it to the IGA though...
