Hubby and I are moving back to Maine. We retired three years ago and moved to FL. My FIL lived here and he was the last of our parents. He died last November, so we really have no reason to remain in FL. We had always wanted to live in FL, but it just hasn’t worked out. It’s just too damn hot and muggy here for too long. We were lucky to find a reasonably priced house in Kingfield. We have an ATV trail at the back of our property, which is quite convenient. We are both looking forward to living in a new part of the state. We are, however, smaht enough to move back in July so we can spend one last winter in FL.
And smart enough to get past black fly season too. Hope it all works for you. I’d like to try it some day for a winter, just to see if I could make it through.
I am usually in Florida in March for spring training and bike week. It’s not happening this year. I have both Covid shots but not willing to expose myself to the unmasked masses I see on tv there. Ice fishing is fun
Congratulations UMOgrad83. It has changed up here.
A famous multi-billionaire came to Maine and spent 3 days at the lodge on Millinocket Lake. The plan is to buy up the land from Wytopitlock west to the Canadian Border. I have their maps from 1978 when they listed the towns to be totally depopulated. Reminds me of the old children's song: ”Inch by inch, row by row. Nice to see my forest grow” It's much easier up here in the woods than it was when the Feds seized the entire Cuyahoga Valley in Ohio. The excuse there was to ”preserve the heritage”. The heritage did not include people. There was resistance led by ”The Women of the River”. They gave it everything they had. They ended up with nothing. Their weakness was that they were honest and logical. The feds were lying tyrants. We used to know what to do about tyrants in our nation as demonstrated at Lexington and Concord. Tick, tick, tick.
That is a nice little city, it looks like your presence may be enough to bump their population up over 1,000 people.
Be careful Nestle does not suck dry your water aquifer.
