I love Maine, the people, the climate, the values, and so much more.
Love this one!!

And I'll bet in Maine, you don't have to stand in line at the exit door at Walmart until your receipt is checked off to make sure you paid for everything you're leaving with!

I shop at Walmart on occasion, since moving to Maine, I do not recall anyone ever looking in my bag at the exit.

I have set off the alarms, I stand there for a moment looking around, but nobody comes to me, so I slowly walk outside. I keep thinking that if I walk slowly some elderly employee will have plenty of opportunity to catch up with me to stop me. But so far, nobody has.

To be fair though, I have also done this at HomeDepot, Lowes, Circuit City, and other stores in Maine.

There is no checker at the exit, and nobody comes when the alarm sounds.

Only Sams has a checker.

BJ's wholesale warehouse has a door checker but they only look at the sales slip and punch a hole in it. They never paw around the carriage to see what exactly you have in there. I think the idea that someone MIGHT check your stuff is deterrent enough for a lot of would be shoplifters.

The Wal Mart in Calais has a strict policy. If the alarm goes off when you approach the door you are guilty as sin until they paw through your stuff and prove you innocent.

The Wal-Mart in Falmouth has a door checker, at least the one time that I went there there was one.

The one in Auburn is wishy-washy about that alarm. Some will stop you and others won't.

You know you're in Maine when most of the posts are about *good things*!

....when you have overcast, sunny, rainy, days with hail and thunderstorms.

....when your garden grows so fast, your out of state relatives don't believe the pictures!

....when your in-laws consider your house the 'Summer House' (so you know you are safe from them 8 months of the year!)
