That's when you head to NZ or Australia

I met many Saskatchewan grain farmers who had farms in Canada and farms in NZ or Australia.

16+ hrs of sunshine, year round.

Good plan, though you might miss winter, but you could always head to the cold home for Christmas or 4th of July (or NAIDOC week).

I would be curious to see what the skin cancer rates are on these farmers. Hope they slather on plenty of sunscreen and visit the dermatologist at least once a year.

Cadillac Mountain is the first place in the US to see the sun. It's a great place to visit but might be a little chilly,

Cadillac is the first place you can drive to, but Katahdin sees the sun first. You just have to hike there.

Actually Katahdin never sees the first sunrise. The honor for the spot that sees the most first sunrises goes to Mars Hill Mountain, followed closely by Cadillac. West Quoddy has the honor on occasion as well.

From an article in DownEast Magazine, here are the dates where each sees the sun first.

October 7 to March 6 Cadillac Mountain, Maine
March 7 to March 24 West Quoddy Head Lighthouse Lubec, Maine
March 25 to September 18 Mars Hill, Maine
September 19 to October 6 West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, Lubec, Maine
