Madison street is on the water and very close to downtown. That house is across from the Wass building and looks interesting. Many places are walking distance from downtown, it's the walking home that can get you.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you told me about the Mitchell Street one - we live on a pretty steep hill right now and I don't wanna do that again. Will, when you say "Many places are walking distance from downtown, it's the walking home that can get you" do you mean based on what you've been doing in town (i.e., spending time at the Rose Garden) or physical difficulty, like hills and such?

When I walk downtown, I'm walking downhill. It's an easy walkl maybe 3/4 mile. Walking back uphill to the house is more of a challenge.

oh, but you have to admit....walking from downtown you do have a choice. Would you like the long, gradual "omg I can't believe how long this hill is!!" or the steep "let's just walk this hill and get it over with!" incline

Yep, we head out early in the morning for Eastport. It is so good to see such a response from such a small area! Thanks Corgis for going over to take care of that for us! Hello willb!

Default Eastport

Eastport is as you hope it will be. It is the town that drew me to Washington County Maine, and it still remains one of my most favorite places in the world to be. Good luck on your trip!

Sorry I'm late for the directions. I'm not real good at names in that town, but I would always be willing to help find out.
I think I lost weight during the fourth of July walking up one end of town and to the other. It's a nice walk but I always slept so good when I got home. But It has some charming village charm from long ago.

On a beauiful note...
Our culture in Maine.. usually doesn't come in a building with 4 walls, floor and ceiling.. it comes from a glace past a tree, a walk by the ocean, or talking to the folks that grew up here. I am cultured with Maine because I love to explore it the "ole fashion way."

Hello Willb and welcome. We are looking forward to meeting you and Lisa along with everyone else on the forum. A special thank you Willb for creating our beautiful "sheiling"...A scottish word that means a small cottage or retirement place on a mountain or seaside. We feel so blessed to call it our home. I have created a blog called wee-sheiling.blogspot.com. I will be posting pictures and my ramblings this summer to keep in touch with my family and friends. DH and I are 20 miles outside Scranton, PA on I-81. We are making good time travel wise. We are spending the night here and will be in Eastport in the afternoon. Thanks Corgis for checking on the house and taking in my packages out of the rain. Blessings to All.
