This is Belfast Harbor, mid-March 2007. There was still lots of snow on the ground. It was quite beautiful!

Sometimes there is ground fog in the winter. Warm air on the snow will cause the fog.
Another fun one is around the open rivers and the water and air temp difference.

Yup, we get a lot of sea smoke down here when the temps go way down.

Not a great picture but this is the extent of "fog" we get in winter up this way. From the causeway just past the reservaion. That's Kendalls Head (on the right) and Deer Island (on the left) in the background.

Here's a shot I took at sunrise from my window. Sea smoke is rising over the frozen tidal cove. It was so much more stunning in real life than what my camera was able to capture.

I love the sea smoke! Wonder if that appears on the river, as well.

Nice shot Bound! Love it. The sun hits it just right.

Elcarim, as far as I know if the water temp is well below the air temp you get "smoke". Being as the St Croix is a tidal river it might have enough salt to not freeze before the temp is right. Not sure about that far up the river though.
