Thanks for the endive. I have bananas, a date, turkey, and cranberries. I need squash and a pie to have a complete meal.

I bet we can find one out there! I'll take a walk out toward the wreath trees and look around. If there isn't one that should be thinned we'll just cut one down. If we leave one branch on the stump the branch will become a leader, reach up and start forming itself into a new "tree." And while we're on the topic of trees, remind me to tell you about seedlings. Steve was very surprised to hear you don't have trees. "She's not in the woods? " He had you pegged for a woodswoman quickly. He said you need trees and we'll find enough to plant a forest if you want them.

I'll trade you a small "Core Sound Tree" if I can...
I'd never seen these. When I was in high school we made something similar with wire coat hangers, lights and garland. I think I'll make a few with just hangers and lights and put them on the back porch.

Well that's what you get when to take a thrfty "downeaster" (NC variety...) with an active imagination and mix with a changing economy. LOL their main business USED TO BE crab pots (traps)...

The first ones were just the wire, they he figured out a way to string the lights on, so that you can fold up the trees flat to store them. Got a patent on the things, even! Nicky is a good guy, one of the folks I am looking forward to seeing when I get back down that way for the Waterfowl Weekend festival the first of next month.

Well, Steve is right, I DO love/need/want woods... That is why I was scything the back and when K got the mower running and started cutting with it I had him zigging and zagging back and forth to try to avoid cutting anything that even looked like it might be a baby tree! LOL It's easier to miss them with the scythe though..

Practical considerations... wind break/privacy screen... enough sun around still that I can grow stuff... a special place in the back with 12 particular trees and a clearing in the middle... but otherwise, bring 'em on!
