There is a "Castle Rock" in Colorado, the King's lived there for a while. I believe he just used the name for a Maine locality.

I can't remember where I heard this, but I've always understood that Stephen King always tries to have some of the shooting done for each movie in Maine.

Did any of you all watch the 1960's gothic soap opera
"Dark Shadows" ? It took place in the fictional coastal town of
Collinsport, Maine about 50 miles southeast of Bangor. It was appointment TV for after school viewing for many in my generation. Actually filmed in Connecticut, Rhode Island and the ABC studios in New York City.
