Hey guys, I'm seriously considering moving to Saco, because of the proximity to Portland without being in Portland. Is it a very urban city? Is there much crime? Is it a nice city? What's your overall view of Saco?

Thanks!

P.S. I'm coming from Essex, VT

I like it too. I have considered moving to the area from Auburn. The area is Biddaford Saco and has closer ties with Biddaford then Portland. Lot's of potential for growth in that corridor but still has a suburban feel rather than an urban feel. I think their HS is private or something and the city pays for residence to go there. I find prices to be more reasonable. but I do not remember how the taxes are or the job market. Good luck

I have two sons who live in Saco and they both really like it.....it is convenient....less expensive.....and they think Saco is well governed.

It is a SMALL city with older down town area....with Biddeford it shares a mill economy past....Biddeford where the mills were and where the workers tenemnts are is still struggling to recover from the loss of industry.....Saco feels like it had more money.....mill foremen and exectives maybe so some nicer old neighborhoods. New developments in the semi rural parts of the town.

It isnt "Cabot Cove" by a long shot--but it is a nice town.

Hey I live in Saco right now. It's a great little city; great school system, plenty to do, growing downtown area, low crime level. Great little city!

Good luck!
