If I had field clear fields for hay or grains then I might be growing hay or grain. I have met folks that are doing grain for their furnaces.

I live in a forest. I manage 150 acres of trees. I bought land in treegrowth, as it was so much cheaper than farm land.

I do not see any need for my family to shift to a pellet stove.

My hesitancy about pellets is that I can't make them. Perhaps with the right equipment I could, though it looks like a lot of equipment.

I am not so sure that I want to heat source that I can not make.

Youre not saying, like post brewing barley. Like maybe lets squeeze the wort and burn the pulp barley. But rather your saying burning good brewing barley. No wort. No beer. No Whiskey.

Is that ethical?

Is that legal?
It shouldn't be! How the are we going to keep making GOOD beer with people burning up the barley and driving up the cost? Burn wood and save the barley for a nice glass of Porter or Stout to drink in front of the fire.

I felt that way about pellet stoves too. I only changed my mind when I saw oil heading for $5 a gallon. We can't be home all day to feed the wood stove so we opted for the pellets during the day. Of course oil is now heading down....
