We have an interesting situation. We moved to Down East Maine last fall from New Mexico and have spent the past year in the Machias area. Now we realize that we need to get a bit closer to civilization so are looking to move to a surrounding area of Ellsworth in January, when our lease is up here (we paid our rent up through the end of the lease and hate to break the lease as much as we'd like to move now!).
I've been checking out the Ellsworth American and even the Bangor Daily classifieds for rentals to get an idea but was wondering if there are any other avenues or suggestions folks might have.
We have a 10 month old baby, 2 cats and a well-behaved dog. We can't afford very high rent (the $700 range works best for us) and would like a house rather than an apartment, preferably somewhere just outside of Ellsworth.
If anyone knows of any options, please let me know! We'd of course like to have something set up by then if possible.

toadlings I just noticed this and saw there are no replies! I wish I could help but I'm quite far away (2 hours) from Ellsworth! Have you had any luck?

You are doing what it takes, unless you know somebody that knows somebody in the area.
