I wasn't going out this morning. I didn't even get out of bed til 5:30 am. If I were going I should have been out the door then. We had coffee and I looked at TerraServe to figure out Plan C. Steve left. He backed out of the drive, looked up and down the road for traffic and saw the doe and fawn here at the house. They didn't go far so I'm hoping to find a buck around. I have my smelly stuff, sprayed my boots with "dirt", kept the dogs in and I think I'm ready. Here's to bucks with over active hormones - may one of them not hear me, see me, smell me or otherwise know I exist.

I plan on going out but I have to perform a series of steps first. we can't let our bird dog see us leave the house with a weapon unless he gets to go, too. So I have to run the dog first when husband leaves for work..check for sign while I'm out...then return, sneak the rifle into the Jeep, and pretend I'm driving off for errands. If the Vizsla suspects I'm going hunting without him he howls for hours!

I followed what I think is a large buck judging by the tracks but I couldn't catch up. I'll get some work done and go out again.

tcrackly, my farmcollie is heart broken if she doesn't get to go. As far as she's concerned a gun means she gets to flush partridge. The dogs are loose any time they're out. If she doesn't come right back when I call them in I know she's out by an apple tree scaring a partridge that's there every day. She makes it fly, goes away and waits for it to come back, makes it fly, waits.... She's easily entertained.

Got a deer yesterday afternoon right around dusk. 6 point buck...jumped right out in front of us...coyote was right behind him...we actually got them both.

Thing is we got them with a 2004 Chevy 1500...

The deer have really been on the move this fall it seems, more so than last year. That is the 4th deer that someone I know has hit. My girlfriend hit 2, co-worker hit 1 and now my buddy hit one 1...

If you guys are having trouble finding deer, I would be more than willing to help out...What I'll do is have my girlfriend drive out in the field you guys are hunting in. I'm sure the deer will be trying to jump in front of her so that she can hit them...all you gotta do is shoot them before she hits them!

Anything left of them?
Maybe I'll try the car thing....the rifle doesn't seem to be doing it for me this season!

Well it all depends on what you hit them with you know? If you go the Kia route, there is plenty left to them. If you go the larger Chevy truck route then there's not so much...you get more of a pulpy outcome...
