I find that setting up a feeder. Positioned about 100 yards from your back porch window, with both a salt block and a food trough can help. From your home you can observe when wild life are pestering you lifestock, open a window, take up a handy rifle [stored next to that window] and take aim.

That's illegal in Maine you know! You can feed deer and put up salt or apples all you want you just can't shoot a deer anywhere near the food. It's called baiting and there's a big fine and loss of your hunting license for doing it!.

Ooops!

I would never bait deer!

Besides my deep freezer is already full.

I was innocently watching my goats eating from their feed trough out there in the forest, when this big mean bully of a deer came out and he was harrassing my goats.

You are right though, folks should not bait deer.

Now bear, .....

You can bait bear in August for September shooting! They love day old jelly donuts from Dunkin Donuts!
