1.What is the clearance under the Campobello bridge at mean high tide? I may have occasion to boat under it this spring.

2. Does anybody have the link to that short haunting video made in Lubec. It's the one where only one person was walking across the street and it seemed to have been filmed on a dark day in black and white.

The clearance height of bridges on US nautical charts are all based on mean high tide.

Unless I'm looking at the wrong bridge, vertical clearance is 14.3m

Chart 13396

It wasn't meant to be spooky. Lubec always looks like that.

I don't remember one filmed in black & white in Lubec, but this one was filmed in Eastport in black & white:

That clearance is correct.

The swift current is what one needs to watch out for.

You don't see many pleasure craft attempting the Narrows. Most go around Campobello through Head Harbour Passage.

I understand tides. I used to play in Blue Hill Falls in a canoe. That is one of the reversing falls on the Maine coast. We have tides so high that water pours over a rock ledge on the way out and over the same ledge on the way in. There is a time when the water is perfectly calm between each tide. That's what I want to time at Lubec next spring. I also know about the whirlpool near Dudley Island.

Thanks for the video link. That was the one I wanted.
