Hello all my Maine Forum friends! You must've thought I'd fallen off the planet...or got bored with the Maine crowd! Not so -- I've just been workin' my fool head off! I have one partner left, my dear sweet wife of almost 40 years. The other guys who worked trucking jobs with me, well, I guess they like their unemployment benefits better.
My only hired help now is day-labor from the temp agencies, what there are left of them. These guys are grateful for the jobs, believe me! We clean out warehouses, foreclosures, and of course, still haul whatever will fit into my 2 old banged-up dump trucks.
The cash is just too good to pass up. Day will come when I'll have to pass it up. I had planned to be in Maine by now, but we're still in Rhode Island. Still waiting for the other shoe to fall, economically. It will. Then I'll be up there with all of you, maybe taking it easier!
Would love to hear from you, is there any work like this in Maine? Anybody here working 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week? After awhile, you get so used to it, you don't notice any more!
