Forest - Did you get a lot of ice? Wow we probably had 2 inches of ice underneath that crusty 5 inch top layer of snow. Hey, I can even walk on snow today where the sun wasn't shining. Broke our winch cable on the ATV plow. Snowblower didn't like it too much either. Ice dam on roof -- DH solved by drilling holes in underside of soffit. Jeez, almost enough to make one head for FLA...almost. Other than that, the day is beautiful and life is good, now that it's all done!

**Stupid question warning**

What are the elastic X shaped straps for that are on the front of kids' snow boots?

Last night it sounded like rain, so I went outside and checked, big blobs of slush were falling.

This morning I could not see any real ice layer though. I think it hit the fluff, soaked in a bit and re-froze.

The top snow was not fluffy, but the crust was not hard enough to hold weight either.

It is nice and sunny now

Do you mean just on the front like where the ties would be?

If thats what you mean since both my boys have snow boots like that with elastic X straps across the front... they are just to keep them tight as a tie with strings would do but this way there are not ties coming undone. Some snow boots have velcro to tightly velcro them. The elastic straps can give way to push the foot in, but keep them snug and hopefully on the kids foot when stepping in the snow and their boot not coming off stuck in the snow.

That may totally not be what you mean! But I think it is..

Yes, that's it. The straps aren't detachable - they're just there.

yeah, their straps aren't detachable either. Just straps that sort of keep the boot snug once you push your foot in. Don't think there is any other point of them... just to sorta keep it tight.
