Aren't diners great? My wife and I are addicted and hit the Maine Diner several times a year since the 90's. My favorite diner of all!

The Hunley was the third in a series of boats [ Pioneer, American Diver, Hunley]. The first to successfully sink an enemy combatant. They were all man-powered vessels. The Hunley was sank, killing all 8-crewmen, on four separate occasions. Killing a total of 32 crewmen.

The Davids were used to run blockades, rather than to attack. Submerging only long enough to get past the enemy ships, to meet with the merchant ships awaiting outside of the harbor and to return to port again. They were steam-powered vessels.

Yes I love them, I have toyed with the idea of doing my own diner/dive. I love cooking that style of food. You know, food, not art that you eat. I make stuff you know what it is and and what is on it. I am a cook, not a chef, nor do I want to be a chef. But it sounds like Mainers like the diner style, a footnote for the back of my head.

tank,,,i think more diners in maine is a great idea,,more and more folks are "trading down" from fine dining to casual dining
a good name for a diner would be "downeast dive" diner

if i opened a diner, id have a "guest chef of the day" specials,,, (customers that are good cooks.

also, along with the regular menus, id have digital picture frames scrolling the menu in pictures, people buy with thier eyes and will trade-up if they like what they see, how often do we see another entree being served to someone else and say wow! that looks good

id also have the guest chef of the day on video clips, showing cooking techniques/skills,
and scroll these during the day
you could also have cooking classes...
