so far so good. Starts right up with no problem. Its not bad in the snow considering how light it is. Just have to use common sence. Only brought it in once. Stove is outside though.......

My new tractor would not start yesterday. I was going to use it to break apart a woodpile. I called the Massey Ferguson dealer, I learned a bit more about glow-plugs on this thing. Apparently it only heats for 15 seconds and then shuts off on a timer. So energizing the glow plug for longer than 15 seconds does no good. There is a factory oil pan heater that I could buy, he only sells one for every 40 tractors on average.

If I want to I could spend the extra $ for a block oil heater.

He recommended that I give the tractor a jump from another battery. That in minus weather the tractors turn over very slowly. By jumping it with a second battery the engine will turn over faster and for most guys their tractors will start right up.

I might try that trick today.

This morning we had -12. So it does appear to be warming

I guess I've become a real wimp living in Florida for the last 25 years. I was framing a porch near the bay all week, and it only warmed up to mid forties with brisk wind a couple of days. First time our wood stove has been cranked for seven days straight in the eleven years we've had it. Got down to 21 degrees here last night. Felt like 21 below when I lived in Maine. And Al Gore got a Nobel Prize?
