Maybe I'm strange, but I thought this was a neat kind of thing to learn about.

I have a safety kit in both of my vehicles, they go in the vehicles on the first day of frost.

Is there anyone else that does this???

I could be the cracked branch on the family tree, but I think there may be others just like me out there!

Here's what I have in my duffel bag;

first aid kit
wind up flashlight from LL bean (small one)
emergency blanket (silver folded wallet size)
spare socks and packable wind pants
leather work gloves
jumper cables
lighters/matches
bungee cords
whistle
paper and pencil (pens freeze)
snacks/granola bars
water bottle with some poured out (it will burst if full)
1 bottle of motor oil
zip-lock with paper towels soaked with windex (ZIP-LOCK, not slide top bags, they aren't air tight enough)
bottle of 91 % alcohol (can be used to help washer fluid not freeze, stinky but works)
roll of T.P. in zip-lock bag
flares
cell phone charger for lighter
gallon size ziploc with rock salt/ halite etc...
fold-able steel shovel (from army navy store)

Does anyone else do this?

And what is in your safety kit?

I'm always looking for ideas, and since there are so many of you that are much more clever than I, I want to hear about what you do!

Thanks.... and have a great holiday!

Might want to purchase something, that plugs into your lighter to air up tires if one goes flat. I carry a tow strap, snow shovel, jumper cables, and a batterypac with tire inflator. I have an AWD vehicle. Also, have AAA.

Since I use my car to drive to the store about twice a week I think I'll skip the safety kit.
If I get caught in the Shaws parking lot during a blizzard I'll call a taxi. Or my wife.

Our daughter got us a bodygard 7 in 1 emergency tool. It has a glass breaker and seat belt cutter, is very compact (1.75"x3") and stores right on your keychain.

you should get a flask for your key chain filled with your favorate drink to keep you hydrated if you get stranded.

I'm thinking if I fill it with the right stuff, I could..... In emergency of course...... clean a wound, start a fire, thin the washer fluid (would smell better too), unfreeze a lock, stay hydrated, .... HUMMM... FORGIVE ME,...... I now see the error of my ways.

Does Jose' come in 90 proof???
