Thankyou all for the info and the warm welcome. FOr those who asked where are we coming from. The answer is the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We also have a 4x4 expedition and have driven in the snow alot since me and the kids love to ski. We are so looking forward to getting up there. Driving to store and such is no different than it is for us now we are 45 mins from the nearest wal-mart and home depot . The nearest town with those store is in Dover Delaware. We are used to the drive. Thanks again for the info.
does anyone know what the local newspaper is in herrington? we are looking to move there from texas. its tooo hot here. need a change of scenery. found a house, now we need to find jobs. thanx in advance.
Hey, Deli! Welcome to the forum. I have a list of Maine newspapers where you may find what you're looking for. If there isn't one for Harrington, look for a surrounding area town paper.
washington county maine is one big small town. the hardest thing for most people who move here to get used to is being so far away from anything. as for the schools, right now all schools in maine have no idea what their future is until we get the school consolidation issues worked out.

The only local newspapers I believe you can get in Harrington are the Machias Valley, Ellsworth American and, the big one, Bangor Daily News. Machias and Ellsworth aree about 30 minutes away in opposite directions and Bangor can't be more than an hour or so west. If you're looking for jobs also try the Maine Job Service: State of Maine Career Center
There's one in Machias and Bangor. Not sure about Ellsworth but I bet there is one there.

Welcome to the forum and good luck.
The Machais Valley may have more items pertaining to Harrington than the Ellsworth American. I don't remember ever seeing much from that area in the local rags.

No I don't think there is one for there. Not even Cherryfield or Milbridge. Penny Saver maybe.

I subscribe to The Downeast Coastal Press. It is a weekly newspaper and covers most of Washington County. They are NOT up and running yet with a website, but you may reach the owners at downeastcoastal@earthlink.net or Patti Forbes is the writer for the Harrington area. Her email is pforbesw@aol.com. Neither of these email are private - they are published in the newspaper, so I do not feel like I am infringing on their privacy. Good luck.
