Do Kids Play Outside? You Betcha! I live "in-town", sometimes in the summer there are 30 or so kids playing ball, riding bikes, etc. on our street.

That's awesome! You don't see that in our town in Texas. Usually, when you see kids roaming the streets, you get your own kids inside behind closed curtains. Seriously. Those are called "gangs" in our neck of the woods!

We live in a pretty widely separated "town neighborhood" (the lots are all measured in acres rather than feet! LOL) My neighbor on one side has no kids, and the one on the other has a teen who "isn't into horses" and I don't see him out a lot, but there is one family with elementary-age kids, and I see (or more often hear) them outside when I am out and it's not school time.

Until it got snow and very cold, though, the horsey-neighbor had kids at her place pretty much ever day after school and on weekends, coming to ride, groom and just be with the horses. Her husband is a local minister for a small church up the road and she says this is her ministry.. "ponies, pizza and Jesus."

While it's not my thing (neither horses nor Jesus are especially high on my list) we are friendly and the kids often wave and holler "hi" when they see us out, and always say hi to Brandi (by name... ) so next year I will walk her over sometimes when I see the kids there and have a day off.
