They recently revamped the rotary on the east side of Augusta. What do you think of it?

im use to those two augusta rotaries, (been using them often for 28yrs), but i read somewhere, that its the most accident prone location in the state, now, with the new lanes, its a bit confusing,,,
but i approach the rotaries, like i approach a bear i shot....very carefully!!! with eyes wide open!

I suppose we should all approach every intersection, not just rotaries, with that same caution. After all, people are always in a rush, and don't always yield when they should. I'm used to them as well, as much of my learning was done in Augusta. So I learned very early on how to properly drive in a rotary.

The new "roundabout" as the state calls it isn't that bad. At the very least, they made the lanes spiral outward, so you're not crossing a lane to exit. Though I don't think I've ever had any difficulty getting out of either one of them.

I guess rotaries do a good job of pointing out who the bad drivers are. I'd wager most of the bad drivers you and I see in Augusta, aren't just bad drivers in the rotaries.

It sort of makes sense that the rotaries would be the most accident prone intersections. I remember reading once that they had more traffic than any other intersection in the state. So more traffic almost always means more accidents, whether your in a rotary, or a regular four-corners.

My biggest complaint of rotaries is that their efficiency is always lost on me, because I always seem to get behind the timid types that will come to a complete stop even if the rotary is empty!

I don't find it difficult either unless I have someone in fromnt of me that does have difficulty. Just slowing down and being watchfull works for me. And if all else fails, follow Faraguts advice..."Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead".
