I drove up here from Boston (left at 5 am) where there was no snow on the ground (little ice though, I have a picture of a guy who hit it the wrong way in the tunnel that I'll post in a few). I-95 remained crystal clear until the Piscataqua River Bridge, aka the Maine Border, with a few inches of snow in the median and along the sides of the road.

Entering Maine, as usual, was a different world. The plow crews were working hard (it was still early), but the highway was in rough shape and it was tough to drive. It was hard not to enjoy the snow on the trees and admire the beauty though. Traffic was slowed to about 30 mph by the time I hit the Scarborough Exit (exit 42). I think I've had my fill of snow this winter. I'm ready to go on our Caribbean trip in March and be warm for a few days.

That said, I'm glad I woke up and didn't have to dig out.

Hopefully, by the time we come through on Sunday, the major road will be clear. If not, we'll just take our time and enjoy the view!

I am sure this batch will be cleared up. They work really hard on it. Thurs and Fri the long range forecast is calling for rain during the day possible snow at night when it cools off (highs in the high 30s) and then a chance of snow showers again on Saturday, here in the Bangor area.

But the weather guessers are no better here than they are anywhere where we HAVE weather... so that may or may not come to pass...

barring a surprise storm, you should be fine. I think the forecast for the week calls for occasional flurries, but temperatures will fluctuate between freezing and just above, so most of this will melt. Like I said, I was driving through at about 6:30-7am so it was still mostly a work in progress. Roads are already significantly better already. They've done a great job cleaning this mess up.

Anyway, I said I'd post a picture of the "mishap" I saw in the tunnel in Boston when the guy hit too much ice, so here it is. I am sorry for the quality, it was a quick snapshot on my cellphone while driving by so it's by no means professional. No one was injured (at least it appeared that way, no emergency crews had arrived yet).

I really hate to say it, but I just have to. Good place for it this time! About time ya'll started to get the snowfall this year. I haven't really wanted to keep it all to ourselves over here, but it was starting to seem that way this year. I was just looking back at last years record breaking snowfall in Caribou and this years snowfall where I am this winter. Right now we are about 12" ABOVE what we had in Caribou last winter at this time, and Caribou was about 54" above their normal for the year at that time. Needless to say, I am becoming tired of having huge snowfalls follow me around .

Good luck to everybody, keep safe if you have to go anywhere.

Holy cow! I guess that's Maine's welcome home gift to us. I did say last week it would nice to see a fresh new snow when we get there. I'll shut up now. Sorry!
