I'd guess I'm one of the few Illinoisans who has ever have been on the Stud Mill road. Runs just north of Great Pond (where Mrs. IRV grew up). Cruised up from Great Pond to right near Old Town. Not too busy in summer, great berry picking. Kinda strange to come upon two gravel roads in the middle of nowhere and see a stop sign.

Back on topic: Watched Logger last night. This is all somewhat farther north than the Stud Mill road. EDIT: Really entertaining show.: -)

I have never had to much trouble with the logging traffic. If the economy doesn't improve the traffic will be real slow. Just remember to give plenty of room to the truckers and don't hold them up.
On another note I hear the Pelletiers are opening a restaurant in Millinocket with a logging theme. I will have to check that one out.

The earthquake in Chili has increased the price of pulp here.

When you travel the Golden Road it's important to keep in mind that it is a privately owned road and the trucks always have the right of way. Cows will have calves with them in June. Watch for vehicles pulled over on the side of road. When you see them you'll probably see moose. Watch for people who are excited over the moose, don't think and run out into traffic.

Pelletier's is almost ready to open.

I was in the restaurant last night. Awesome place with awesome people. They are not quite open, but they had a gathering for local folks. It has two stories and excellent handicap access. There is a brand new elevator to the second floor so everybody has full access to everything.

The goal is March 15. It partly depends on state inspections and that is always a coin toss.

Loggers compete for business in Maine. There are several large logging companies. The new Pelletier Logging Restaurant has a logging truck on the roof. Crawford Logging trucks all have a big silver "C" on the grills of their trucks. The "C" has lights at night. This past Wednesday night somebody from Crawford went up onto the roof at Pelletier's Restaurant and installed a big silver "C" on the Pelletier truck, complete with lights and a 12 volt battery to keep it lit.

Imagine the consternation Thursday morning when the Pelletiers came by. Of course the entire thing was photographed and video taped for posterity. It made the paper in Bangor. One of the Pelletier family was heard to say, "Payback is a b----."
