Hi, I am interested in a property in Guilford maine but I don't know uch about the area except that I think it is beautiful. What is the political climate like? How would you describe the people, values and friendliness of the town?

Guilford is a nice little mill town right in the heart of Piscataquis County. The only County in New England to vote republican in the last presidential election. Just don't run for public office your first couple of years and you will be fine.

Ten minutes down the road is Dover-Foxcroft, the county seat. Skowhegan is right down rt. 150. You are 25 minutes from Moosehead. Winter will be over in about a month. Not much in the way of entertainment, but millions of acres of recreational opportunity. All the essentials are right here and Bangor is about 80 minutes away if you need anything you can not get in the area.

Default re:guilford

Thank you very much. Do you know why there are so many homes for sale in East Millinocket? I am looking at various small towns and regions to purchase a home.

Twelve years ago there were 4,400 good paper industry jobs in the Millinocket area. Now there are about 400. That's 4,000 families that have a sharply reduced standard of living. The Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway area is a great place to buy a nice home IF you bring your income with you. If you are retired, can manage your business on the web or are willing to travel for your job you can get a real bargain on a house.

Home prices are very good in the greater Millinocket region as well.

Take a look at the Lincoln area.
