i was in the yard today and saw a skeeter.
then i saw another the second one i saw tried to carry off my dog but
i shot it down.now that they are out it wont be long before im fishing.

ya he's ok he landed in a snowbank.the skeeter spiraled out of control and crashed in to the ice on the pond.

Mosqueeters? This early? Never heard of them being active THIS early. Although the insects are out - I found a beetle today. But I've never seen a mosquito this early.

Ranger what kind of fire power you using for skeeter shootin? Is bird shot big enough to bring em down?

I tried DEET on the spring skeeters,........... they seem to think it's BBQ sauce.

bird shot works for the small ones but for the larger one you need to go with something a little bigger.12ga 00-buck.

Hmmmmmm was the skeeter you saw wearing snow skis, and mittens? I understand that parts of Maine are still buried in snow. You all ready for what comes after the skeeters? BLACKFLIES! Oh yeah...gotta love those blackflies...and lest we forget, how about the "No See UMS"....AaaaaYup.

We're still buried in snow. I'll take the bugs and the snow as part of the whole privelage of being able to live in Maine.
