You know you're in Maine when lobsters are used as currancy to pay off a debt. Tomorrow at a family picnic we are having lobster rolls.....a relative received 20 lobsters from another friend who had all the lobsters he could use as part of a repayment of a debt.

Sounds good to me. My father used to barter with lobstermen when he was working jobs on the coast. He'd repair boats in exchange for "straight-off-the-boat" ones.

LOL Maineah! I had a similar thought... these days that must not have been a very big debt, sad to say.

The 20 lobsters we are having were just part of the haul that the person giving them to us had access to......my daughter-in-love, was asked "how many lobsters can you use?" 20 seemed like a reasonable number to ask for.

You guys are killin me, I ate enough lobster when I was back there to make me crave more of it. I might have to have some shipped out next week.
