Not only is this a list of the 2009 season, so it really doesn't matter anymore, but the error was already pointed out and corrected, thanks.

Nothing like blowing your first post on a year old thread. But, we are having a boat race in Eastport this year for the pirate festival. I'm looking forward to that.

Maineah, you probably don't watch NASCAR either or have the little #3 with angel wings in the rear window of your truck, do you?

Lobster boat races are fine if you have a boat to get out to where they're racing. Otherwise all you can do is watch one turn as they come in toward the start line. We used to watch them when they raced off Portland. Overall it isn't much to see. It's more noise than anything and now they usually race a clock not each other.
I do watch an occasional NASCAR race though I prefer motocross and no I don't have any tribute numbers on the truck.

I was just going to say that watching them from shore is really not fun unless, the course is close enough to shore for you see the start and the finish. Also, if you don't know anyone or have any connection to the guys out there that just dumped a gazillion dollars into their boats just for the fame and glory of being first across the finish line.

However, if you've got a boat or friends with boats and can sit right there along the race course, have the VHF on so you can hear all of the banter, know the guys up and down the coast that travel to each race and what fame and glory they bring along with them, it's a GREAT time!

Noise, diesel fumes and all, it's STILL a great time.

Pack the cooler full of your favorite bevies, be there early to get the best spot along the course, whether you prefer the start or the finish and appreciate what these guys have put into it. Raft up with all of your friends. I didn't attend last year however the year before we had 14 boats rafted up together, that's one helluva floating good time. In Harpswell, each boat offers a specialty drink and hors d'oevores. Great music on board for before and after, swimming off the stern, crawling over each boat to visit and *** with friends. Sorry, you just can't beat that!

It would make it a lot easier to watch. I'll have to pick a high spot here.

Where are they going to hold it down there? Out in front of the break water area?
