I see that you wish to flee hot summers, you want snow skiing, snow shoeing fishing and golf, we have all of that here

Now the area that you mention though is the highest priced, highest cost-of-living area of Maine. Was there a particular reason that you wished to live in the high rent district?

My pension is kind of small, I do not know how much your looking at seeing in your pension, you may wish to look at lower cost areas. Fortunately most of Maine is lower cost

Good luck !
I want to be near (20 miles or so) to a town big enough for a good hospital and some restaurants. And by southern Maine, I mean south of Bangor.

Hospitals, Restaurants, and good grocery stores are key. I would rather be outside of a town living on water if possible. And by southern Maine, I mean south of Bangor or Augusta. I would like to be able to easily get to an airport that services the Caribbean.

There are some nice areas between Bangor and Augusta. Off to the West, or to the East.

Sounds like you'd need Logan if you want a direct flight to the Caribbean. Bangor and Augusta, which you've all ready ruled out, and Portland have everything you mention, except that direct flight. I'd suggest southern New Hampshire, since it's pretty obvious you're interested in simple and uncomplicated.
