Google earth is a great device for checking out houses and neighborhoods when you are in the market to buy a new home. One downside: you may not like the picture that is posted. Apparently, the day the "google van" drove by and photographed my old house for Google earth was trash day. But worse, a strong wind had blown the trash and scattered it all over my lawn. I listed the house for sale last year and it did not sell. While I am certain that the economy, and not Google, was to blame, I never liked the fact that there was such an unflattering photo posted on Google earth.

I saw the Google vehicle when it went west on Route 6. At the time I didn't know what it was. The vehicle was a Toyota Prius with ten cameras on it. I had no idea they were filming. I thought it was just going somewhere. They must have some awesome program because they edit out any people they photograph and edit out all license number on vehicles. I used to use it all the time, but now they want $400 for an annual subscription and I don't get that much benefit from it.

They don't take the people out, they blur their features so they're not recognizable. I used the street view to look at the place the wife was renting in Presque Isle and across the street you see someone walking their dog

Default yelp.com

Also you can use http://www.yelp.com to see what services are in a particular area. just type in the type of business -- and location and you'll get user reviews so you can see what is around the area and such if its a place you'd want to relocate to
