Good morning, I posted a thread last night , concerning the Rand & Shorrette families, and I saw this morning that it said, "moved". Can anyone tell me why and where it was moved too? Thanks

Just a guess, but it was moved to "People search" because that's what you seemed to be doing ... looking for specific people.

There is a special forum for "people searches". They arent included in the state forums....altho I understand that you would think people who live in the area might have some info. Your thread is located here: //www.city-data.com/forum/peopl...-families.html

Default logical move, sort of

I could see where the move to 'people search' would be logical from an organizational structure. It provides a niche to consolidate 'searches'.

Unfortunately it does little to help a poster find information as it consolidates, 'searchers' and not 'contacts'.

Searchers go to 'search for people' but people not knowing they are being sought or people who might have helpful local information have no reason to go there.

Just a thought.

I agree that the OP would get more help from people who live in Maine and post in Maine forum....it is unlikely that someone in Bradley Maine will wake up and say I wonder if anyone is looking for anyone from these parts today.

Have you called the town office to ask for information?

No, but the town office would be a good starting point. Thank you. I found a website named " The History of Bradley" nice little website. I did see the names of a couple of my mom's relatives in the article. Also elston sent me a link to the Viola Rand School, and there is a speech therapist there with the last name Shorette!! Another good starting point. I never knew my grandpa Chester or my grandma Viola. They passed away before I was born. My mom passed away 10 years ago. I would love to find out more about this side of my family, and to possibly find any distant relatives that may still be in the area. You all are so nice and helpful, Thank you!!

From the forum rules:

We have a great bunch of knowledgeable girls in the People Search forum .
They have helped many members find lost loved ones.
Good luck!
